As an avid music lover and an overly enthusiastic vinyl collector, naming an album was always on my bucket list.

Amsterdam brass band Jungle By Night allowed me to tick it off back in 2018 when they needed help positioning themselves in the run-up to their fifth studio album. The project was short 'n sweet, but the process behind it one I thoroughly enjoy. To redefine who the nine-headed band is to the outside world, we sat down for a three-hour conversation slash interview, after which I went on the hunt for an album name and a manifesto.

With the artwork firmly in place, Livingstone naturally stood out as the album's title. It reflects the band's spirit of adventure and parallels the explorer who received that famous greeting in the heart of the jungle.

Manifesto

After almost a decade of heating up dancefloors across the globe, Jungle by Night have reached manhood. In the process of creating their 5th album, the nine-headed collective melted years of passion, friendship, and influences from krautrock, dance, jazz, and afrobeat into new instrumental prose, fluently speaking the language of their instruments.

The band is an oddball ensemble within its own cosmos — a danceable and thundering live-act, connecting with crowds like no other, beaming fun and energy along the way.
